Can you get laid on another planet? It’s hard to say, but when Elon Musk announced his to send people to Mars by 2024, we wondered what sex in space might look like. Organisms and new life aside, let’s talk about out-of-this-world orgasms.

First, we’re almost positive no one’s ever tried. Only one married couple has ever gone on a mission together, and unless they wanted all of NASA watching them, chances are they abstained. Secondly, logistics can throw a wrench in intergalactic probing. Let’s be honest—the lack of gravity is not your friend. Playing hard to get is one thing, but try getting it on with someone who’s literally floating away from you. Additionally, being out of our atmosphere blood pressure and hormone levels, which means that you probably won’t even be in the mood for sex.

Over a decade ago, Italian inventor and actress Vanna Bonta invented the 2Suit to allow physical intimacy in orbit. The design is simple: space suits that zip together to form a tandem garment that gives future astronauts privacy during lift-off. While sorting out the gravity thing is TBD, at least it’s a possibility to float together. We’d call that one giant step for mankind.

Space sex may be lightyears away, but here’s our list of space movies to get your rocket launched:

To infinity and beyond.
